The German fischertechnik building system is excellent for architectural and structural projects, and is extremely high quality and has mechanical extensions. Edmund Scientific is the marvelous supplier of educational scientific material, now with an on-line presence. In addition to the best assortment of science kits anywhere, they have a pretty good robotics selection in their printed catalog (the on-line robotics stuff is mostly OWI robot kits). Tower Hobbies is far and away the best source for RC hobby stuff, including servos. The same sentiment, in their own words: ``The World's Premier Supplier of the Finest in Radio Control Models.'' There's no contest. For general purpose use, I recommend the Futaba S148 servo, a solid, economical model.
